NorthEast United FC use some humour to announce their player retention

SOMETIMES TALKING to oneself can lead to dubious notions. Well, NorthEast United FC just did the same to announce their player retention.

The club was the last on list to announce to share any news on the player retention. Delhi Dynamos FC had recently announced that the club would not be retaining any player and NEUFC was looking like to be taking that route.

Only today, NEUFC tweeted the following.

This led to fans into confusion and had multiple player names (mostly foreign) being brought up. A fan club handle even replied this.

The club handle then added a few more tweets just to add to the anxiety (or confusion).

And finally the climax was reached as the club announced Rowllin Borges and TP Rehenesh as their players retained on two years contracts each.

Borges, the 25 year-old has played for Sporting Club de Goa for five seasons before being picked up by NorthEast United FC in the last edition of the Indian Super League. The 6 feet tall defensive midfielder has received praises from national team coach Stephen Constantine and FC Goa former coach Zico.

Rehenesh TP has been playing for clubs like ONGC, Mumbai Tigers and Shillong Lajong in the I-League. Rehenesh secured the first choice keeper’s place in 2015 when he was signed by the NorthEast United FC. From there he was loaned to East Bengal FC for two seasons.
