Australia SS: Saina trumps Sung Ji & other results from day 1

INDONESIA SSP winner Kidambi Srikanth continued his winning run as he defeated Kan Chao Yu in the opening round of Australia Super Series. It was a straight game victory for the Indian 21-13, 21-16.

On the other hand, HS Prannoy, Ajay Jayaram, Parupalli Kashyap and Siril Verma ended their campaign after losing their respective matches. Prannoy lost to Rajiv Ouseph 21-19, 21-13; Ajay was defeated by Ng Ka Long Angus 21-14, 10-21, 21-9; Kashyap was defeated by Son Wan Ho 21-18, 14-21, 21-15 and Siril was trumped by Hans-Kristian Vittinghus 21-16, 21-8.

Women's singles shuttler and defending champion Saina Nehwal trumped runner-up of Indonesia SSP Sung Ji Hyun 21-10, 21-16 while PV Sindhu got the best out of winner of Indonesia SSP Sayaka Sato 21-17, 14-21, 21-18.

Ruthvika Shivani lost to Chen Xiaoxin 21-17, 12-21, 21-12.

Women's doubles duo of Ashwini Ponnappa/Sikki Reddy easily defeated Hsuan-Yu Chen/Jennifer Tam 21-11, 21-13. Men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj/Chirag Shetty displayed phenomenal performance to win 20-22, 21-19, 21-11 against Cheuk Law/Chun Lee.

Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy lost to Takeshi Kamura/Keigo Sonoda 22-20, 21-6 and Francis Alwin/Kona Tarun lost to Hendra Setiawan/Boon Heong Tan 21-17, 21-15

Mixed doubles duo of Ashwini Ponnappa/Satwik lost 21-13, 21-17 against Lee Chun/Chau Hoi Wah.
