China beat India 3-0 to enter SF of Sudirman Cup

IT WAS A TOUGH tie for India as they were up against 10 time champions China in the quarter-finals of Sudirman Cup. A tough fight from India but not good enough against the mighty Chinese as they clinched the tie 3-0 with two matches remaining.

The mixed doubles duo of Satwik/Ashwini Ponnappa once again stepped up their game and displayed a great match. They were up against World No 2 Lu Kai/Huang Yaqiong and nobody expected the Indian duo to fight like they did. The young pair stunned their opponents by winning the opening game 21-16, this put the Chinese duo under immense pressure.

But they showed why they are one of the top pairs as they won the following two games 21-13, 21-16.

This was the only match that saw some fight from India as the following two matches were thorough domination from China.

Srikanth Kidambi was trumped by Chen Long 16-21, 17-21 while the men's doubles duo of Satwik/Chirag Shetty were defeated by Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan 9-21, 11-21.

Winning three out of five matches in a row declared China as the clear winner to clinch a semi-final spot once again. They are just inching closer to their 11th Sudirman Cup title.
