Side strain rules Glenn Maxwell out the IPL

KINGS XI PUNJAB ALL-ROUNDER Glenn Maxwell has suffered a strain to his left abdomen and has decided to head home to recuperate ahead of the tri-series in West Indies. The versatile batsman is the fifth Australian to pull out of IPL, but the injury is unlikely to keep him out of the upcoming series.

As reported by cricbuzz, Australia’s support team physiotherapist, David Beakley said,

“From the information we have so far, the injury doesn’t appear to be something that will prevent Glenn from participating in this tour, but we are keen to give him the necessary time to recover before departing to the West Indies at the end of this month.”

The Punjab franchise is languishing at the bottom half of the points table and is already out of contention for the playoffs.
