KINGS XI PUNJAB today announced that Ravichandran Ashwin will lead them in the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League. The moment the auction was wrapped up in Bangalore a month ago, many speculated as to who could be leading the beleaguered team from Punjab.
Aaron Finch and Yuvraj Singh were billed as the strong candidates. However, KXIP have put an end to all the theories by picking the offie as their skipper for the forthcoming season.
Ashwin was picked up by KXIP for a whopping 7.6cr, who is also going to lead the spin attack.
The 31-year-old has been an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings from the inception of the league but also featured for the Rising Super Giants in the 2017 edition. That said, Ashwin is yet to lead a side in the cash-rich tournament.
