Fans will be able to watch an U-17 World Cup game for less than Rs. 100

IN THE BUILD UP TO THE UNDER 17 WORLD CUP in India, news shared by the tournament Director of Local Organising Committee,Javier Ceppi will bring a lot excitement among fans. The director was at the Salt Lake stadium to inspect the preparation for the World Cup.

As reported by PTI, to encourage fans to flock the stadium, Ceppi shared at a media conference at Salt Lake stadium,

“We will be launching tickets by mid-May and it will be priced for less than what it takes to watch a movie and for what it costs to watch other leagues,”

“The change here is astonishing,” said Ceppi who comes visiting every three weeks.

He continued,

“I am extremely satisfied with the progress here and at other five other venues. You must realise that this stadium is humoungous and could hold 120,000 people and will now be reduced to 87,000. So work here will take time but it will be between 90 to 95% complete by the time a Fifa inspection team visits next month.”

"There’re seven qualifying teams. We will know 24 teams by May 28. The draw will be on July 7"

Ceppi appreciated the efforts put in by all concerned bodies and entities and explained the same saying,

"India is not treating this like an under-17 World Cup but its first (football) World Cup. That is because nobody wants to see an empty stadium. And anyway, Delhi has more people than Chile (which hosted the last under-17 World Cup)."

On the topic of Delhi not been shortlisted to host marquee matches of the Under 17 World Cup, Ceppi claried saying,

“We will analyse the impact of pollution post-Diwali and then decide whether to allot matches after that”

The Under 17 World Cup will be held in India from October 6 to October 28.
