Coming into the I-League as a corporate entry, Chennai City FC had very little time to get their house in order. And they have done that surprisingly well.

The likes of Karanjit Singh, Dharmaraj Ravanan, Abhishek Das, Dhanpal Ganesh, Zakeer Mundampara and Malsawmfela are in their team so they do have enough players who have a good amount of experience of playing in the professional leagues, apart from the select few players they brought forward from their local league side. 

In terms of foreigners, too, Chennai City played it smart, signing 2 Brazilian forwards from the same Portugese club, to make sure the foreigners had some experience of playing with each other in the past.

All we can see is that Chennai City made the best of the situation. They still don't look like a proper full-season I-League squad with the usual diversity and depth, but they are playing their first season at this level so one can't expect perfection.
