The former World No. 1 from Spain had a great year in 2015, a series of titles to her name that helped her get the No. 1 ranking and a threat to many. But 2016 has been a quiet year in terms of number of titles to her name. Still she has been the talk of the town because of her stellar performance at the Rio Olympics. She along with PV Sindhu created history as it was the first time in of badminton that no Chinese shuttler featured in the finals of women's singles category at the Olympics.
Marin also became the first European to win the Gold. After this she has also given birth to new rivalry between her and Sindhu. That is one match the fans will be looking forward for. But towards the end of 2016, at the Dubai Superseries Finals, Marin didn't have a great outing as she lost all her group stage matches and therefore was out of the tournament.
WHAT TO LOOK FORWARD IN PBL 2017: She missed out in the 2016 edition since it was an Olympic year but since the time it was announced that Marin will be there in 2017, fans can't hold their excitement as they will finally get to witness a Sindhu vs Marin match live.
