Though Elliott came in as the clear underdog in the fight, he surprised everyone by having a solid performance in the first round. The remaining four rounds proved to be a cat and mouse game between Johnson and Elliott with Johnson dominating in the ground and Elliot coming up with great defenses.

In the end, Johnson retained the title but Elliott won hearts. Elsewhere, Joseph Benavidez and Henry Cejudo were involved in an instant classic. The fight went the distance and with Benavidez winning via a controversial split decision.

The fight between Jorge Masvidal and Jake Ellenberger was also overshadowed by controversy. Ellenberger’s toe was caught in between the cage last in the first round and the referee called for stoppage giving Masvidal a win.

Jared Cannonier and Ion Cuteleba gave the fight of the night as both the Light heavyweight showed some incredible chin. Cannonier went home with the win via decision and has managed to earn some fans after such a performance.
