Dana White comments on stripping Conor McGregor of the Featherweight title

A LOT OF CONTROVERSIES was kicked off after UFC stripped Conor McGregor of the Featherweight championship. Dana White was yet to respond to the whole situation but last day, he finally broke his silence.

Dana White broke his silence

Dana revealed that the whole Featherweight division had a logjam due to Conor moving up weight and fighting.

“Look, I let Conor fight [Nate] Diaz and then, I let him fight Diaz again. Then, there was the whole 155-pound thing I let him do. But at the end of the day, him doing that tied up the division for a year. There’s a logjam there and a lot of guys were [angry].” White said.

Dana also said that he wanted Jose Aldo to fight Max Holloway for the title but as Aldo needed more time, the interim championship fight made more sense.

“This was my way to fix the logjam. I wanted Aldo to fight Holloway for the belt, but he needed more time. So I looked at it and I said, well, it makes sense to make Aldo the champion and then have Holloway and Pettis fight for the interim title, and when Jose’s ready, barring any crazy injuries, the winner can fight him.” he added.

Conor had become the only simultaneous two weight champion in UFC when he defeated Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 for the Lightweight championship.
