3 Superfights we came very close to seeing in the UFC, but ultimately didn't happen



One of the main reasons why UFC has managed to become the world's premier fight promotion is due to the fact that, for the most part, they have been able to give the fans the fights they want. Now, not all 'fantasy' matchups can be made nor is it feasible to have elite fighters and champions jump weight classes to compete in these 'dream' fights that fans mull about. But if there have been 'superfights' that have happened with the most regularity, it has been in the UFC.

Right from BJ Penn taking on Matt Hughes for the 170 lbs title to the recent Conor Mcgregor run at welterweight, UFC has been relatively good about making the fights happen where the public interest is high. The latest and the most potent superfight in discussion happens to be the one between former bantamweight queen Ronda Rousey and longtime female Featherweight ruler Cris Cyborg.

However, amidst all the present euphoria, one can't help but look back at some of the very anticipated fights that the UFC let pass by, due to either inability to make them or the lack of desire or both. I list down 3 such fights that come to my head, right off the top:
