TFG SmackDown Review: James Ellsworth wins, Curt Hawkins skips his match again and more

JAMES ELLSWORTH GOT A once in a life time opportunity when he went up against AJ Styles for the WWE championship on SmackDown this week. Though he did not get a clean win and the championship, a win via disqualification settled the score and Ellsworth now has two wins to his name over AJ Styles.

Ambrose once again haunted AJ

Dean Ambrose had a huge impact on the main event as expected and thanks to his interference; he will now get a shot at AJ Styles next week on SmackDown. If Ambrose manages to win, he will be announced as the number one contender for the championship as well.

Kane returns

The disappearance of Kane was a talking point last week. The Big Red Monster went missing halfway through his match against the Wyatt Family and he resurfaced this week to have a strong showing. He not only helped Randy Orton to fend off the threat from Wyatt Family, he also stood tall when the segment concluded.

Curt Hawkins once again skips his return

The in-ring return of Curt Hawkins is something that everyone has been waiting for. WWE has been teasing the same for a long time now but it was delayed once again on SmackDown. WWE had booked Hawkins vs. Apollo Crews for the event but Hawkins as usual, had other ideas.

Here are the complete results from SmackDown Live.

  • Randy Orton def. Luke Harper via Disqualification
  • Alexa Bliss def. Naomi
  • Curt Hawkins (almost) debuted against Apollo Crews
  • Carmella puts Nikki Bella on blast
  • The Miz & The Spirit Squad def. Dolph Ziggler, Heath Slater & Rhyno
  • Baron Corbin def. Jack Swagger
  • James Ellsworth def. AJ Styles via Disqualification
