Georges St-Pierre says he is a free agent, UFC disagrees

FORMER UFC WELTERWEIGHT champion, Georges St-Pierre revealed on the MMA Hour that is no longer contracted with the UFC.

GSP, a free agent?

GSP said that he is a free agent and that he had given UFC time to fix the contract issues.

"You heard it right, I’m a free agent,” he said.

He pointed out that he was in contract negotiations with Lorenzo Fertitta but as UFC was sold to WME-IMG group earlier this year; all the negotiations were put on hold.

"It was like a shock, because we felt like we were making progress, we were almost there. When they told us that, I got angry,” he added.

Meanwhile, UFC released a statement about the claim and said that GSP is still contracted with the promotion.

"Georges St-Pierre remains under an existing agreement with Zuffa, LLC as his MMA promoter. Zuffa intends to honor its agreement with St-Pierre and reserves its rights under the law to have St-Pierre do the same,” The UFC statement read.
