Conflicting reports on the status of Conor McGregor ahead of UFC 205

UFC IS SET TO MAKE history with UFC 205 as it would be the first event for the promotion in New York. As the stakes are high, it is not surprising to see Conor McGregor being tied up with the rumors. Speculations regarding a potential main event between Conor and UFC Lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez were making rounds on the Internet before Dana White shot them down with the following Tweet.

Dana dropped the name of Khabib Nurmagomedov into the mix instead but reports suggest that none of the three fighters have penned any contract so far.

The situation of McGregor is more complicated. Dana earlier said that McGregor would not fight at UFC 205 as he was nursing a leg injury that he picked up during UFC 202. Reports from the McGregor camp, however, negate this.

Will he fight at UFC 205?

While there is a shadow of doubt regarding the main event of UFC 205, UFC has stacked up some interesting undercard matches.

  • Donald Cerrone vs. Kelvin Gastelum
  • Frankie Edgar vs. Jeremy Stephens
  • Tim Kennedy vs. Rashad Evans
  • Tim Boetsch vs. Rafael Natal
  • Liz Carmouche vs. Katlyn Chookagian

Dana White is scheduled to appear at a press conference on Tuesday where he is expected to announce the fight card of UFC 205 and put an end to the rumors.
