TFG Raw Review: Huge announcements, some patriotism, and usual random bookings

Having a show on July the 4th isn’t easy. The entire professional wrestling fan base knew that WWE is going to draw badly for the episode and the way in which they booked the show suggested that they were prepared for this.

Cena has found his allies

It was a show just for the sake of putting up a show and it’s safe to say that narratively, the show didn’t have much to contribute. Of course, WWE did make some huge announcements during the show and this was the only standout factor.

Summerslam opponent of Brock Lesnar to be announced on SmackDown

The Summerslam appearance of Brock Lesnar was a guaranteed one. However, none of us expected WWE to drop the announcement so early. If we take a closer look at this, the announcement will come just days before Brock Lesnar’s return to the UFC against Mark Hunt.

Now, the Summerslam match is most likely to be hyped at UFC 200 which will explain the announcement on SmackDown. At the same time, WWE giving importance to the show is understandable as well due to the upcoming brand split.

Six Man Tag team match for Battleground

The John Cena vs. AJ Styles feud was expected to have a place at Battleground. While most of us expected a one on one rematch between these two, WWE has pulled off a huge swerve by making it a six-man tag team match. The Club will be on one side when John Cena will be teaming up with Enzo and Big Cass.

The exposure for Enzo and Big Cass is going to be huge. This shows us how high WWE is on both Enzo and Big Cass. It might be disappointing to not see the much-awaited rematch, but it also saves this for SummerSlam, which is going to benefit big time from the star power of this rematch.

Usual dose of patriotism

As usual, WWE produced their usual dose of patriotism on Independence Day. A food fight opened up the show and then it was closed by a huge 16-man tag team elimination match involving team USA and Team Multinational Alliance. Team USA got a win as expected and it was a good feel moment for everyone considering the special day for the nation.

The return of Vickie Guerrero, meanwhile served as nostalgia filled moment for the fans. Despite all these, WWE failing to draw the heat towards Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns at Battleground was more than evident throughout the show.

Here are the complete results from the show:
