Sanjoy Sen hands in his shopping list - Bagan set to retain squad core, go after Darryl Duffy

MOHUN BAGAN HEAD COACH Sanjoy Sen has handed a list of players of his choice to the club officials, which mostly looks to keep the core of the squad intact in the next season.

Sen's list prescribes holding on to the accomplished players who have been a part of the Mariners' journey to an I-League title and a Federation Cup victory over the last two seasons, including the prominent names Jeje Lalpekhlua, Debjit Majumber, Pritam Kotal and Kingshuk Debnath.

Among the foreigners, Sen has advised the retention of two of the Bagan regulars, Sony Norde and Katsumi Yusa. He is reportedly not in favour of keeping striker Cornell Glen and defender Luciano Sabrosa.

The list also includes names of players that Bagan will target to sign over the summer. Foremost in the shopping list is Darryl Duffy, the Salgaocar striker who scored 11 goals in the league this season. If by chance Duffy doesn't happen, Sen wants the officials to go after the Shillong Lajong Brazilian striker Uilliams Bomfim. There's a chance former East Bengal striker and I-League golden boot winner Ranti Martins may also make it into the team, and a number of Mohun Bagan officials are reportedly in favour of signing the Nigerian.

Both the club officials and Sanjoy Sen has made it clear that the squad will be made with primarily the I-League season in mind, with local academy graduates and reserve players expected to be given more playing time during the season-starting Calcutta Football League which will kick off in July.
