Dudu rues as Mohun Bagan prepare for last CFL game

MOHUN BAGAN STRIKER Dudu Omagbemi still cannot forget the red card he was subjected to during the Kolkata Derby on 6th September. After moving to arch rivals Mohun Bagan in the summer from East Bengal, he had pegged the Derby as the platform to showcase his skills. But all his efforts to make his mark fell apart in front of an 80,000 strong crowd at Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium when he had to leave the pitch early in the second half after being shown two successive yellow cards by the referee.

The seasoned Nigerian striker could not hold his emotions back at what he saw as a blatant injustice done to him and his team. Banished to the dressing room, he broke into tears on his way in the tunnel. Mohun Bagan went on to suffer a humiliating 4-0 defe

Speaking to reporters the day after, he alleged that the referee had been unfair in his decision to punish him,

"I'm still shocked. I can't believe what went wrong. The first yellow card he gave me, I told him I didn't kick. And he said nothing... this is the game I've been preparing for many weeks... I don't feel good."

Ahead of playing Mohun Bagan's last remaining CFL match against Aryans, Dudu once again spoke about the nightmarish outing on Sunday,

"The referee robbed us."

But he immediately added that his intention is to look forward towards the rest of the season.

"The Calcutta Football League is in the past. We will have a changed, different team in the I-League. It will be a different battle."

The Mohun Bagan vs Aryan match was previously abandoned due to rains and thunderstorm. Now, as it stands, Aryans will face relegation unless they beat Mohun Bagan. The Green and Maroons, on the other hands, will treat this match as one last opportunity to test their players ahead of the business end of the season; especially the foreigners.

Mohun Bagan, as well as East Bengal, are slated to take part in the newly formed international club tournament Sk Jamal Gold Cup to be held in Bangladesh in October. The cash-rich competition will also feature four clubs from Bangladesh and one each from Nepal and Sri Lanka.

The crucial part of their season begins in January when they defend their status as the Champions of India in the I-League 2015-16, as well as begin their Asian campaign in the ACL qualifiers.

It is unclear whether Dudu will remain a part of the Bagan side till then, but the veteran striker is already making long term plans at his new club.
