WWE Payback 2016 Preview: Thriving on the potential swerve

What will the swerve be?

This Sunday, WWE is all set to roll out the 2016 edition of their annual pay-per-view, Payback. With a stacked card and some solid storylines in place, the show has managed to create some good buzz. Currently, WWE has eight matches on the card with one in the pre-show and seven on the main card.

The pre-show match will see Ryback and Kalisto fight it out for the United States championship in a WrestleMania rematch and just like the last time around, it is not creating the any kind of interest among the fans. The Intercontinental championship will also be on the line at the show as Cesaro will face Miz for the title.

While there are these handful of undercard matches that could steal the show, the actual core of the pay-per-view is indeed the main event between Roman Reigns and AJ Styles. The intriguing sub plot involving Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows is what makes it so interesting.

The fans want to know what Anderson and Gallows would do at the show and there are a string of possibilities as well.

First of all, AJ Styles could simply align with Anderson and Gallows to form the Bullet club. But this possibility would be too predictable in nature. The other possibilities on the other hand, are sure to break the internet.

Reigns who is one of the heat magnets in the current roster, could simply turn heel and be the leader of Anderson and Gallows. This would earn him a lot of heat and at the same time, WWE would have a solid baby face in AJ Styles, who is already a big name when it comes to the merchandize sales. On the longer run, WWE could set up the baby face Seth Rollins run if Reings turn heel at Payback.

Lastly, WWE could also introduce Finn Balor and kick start the Balor Club. Balor had been teasing his debut for quite some time now and if he shows up and takes out AJ Styles, it would be one hell of a way to make an impact.

The only concern here is whether WWE would screw up the opportunity they have. The entire pay-per-view is being held up by the excitement regarding the main event and hopefully, WWE would give the fans something to cherish. Below is the complete match card and predictions for the show.
