Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier To Headline UFC 200

.

All the confusion regarding the headliner of UFC 200 was put to bed after UFC announced that Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier would main-event the pay-per-view.

The original main event of the show, Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz was called off earlier due to the ongoing dilemma between Conor and UFC. The Jones vs. Cormier match was supposed to headline UFC 197 but due to Cormier’s injury, the match did not go ahead.

This apparently was a blessing in disguise for UFC as now they have a credible main event for their milestone event.

The match will be a Light heavyweight unification match with Jones heading in as the interim champion and Cormier heading in as the reigning champion.

They met for the first time in UFC 182 with Jones coming out as the winner via unanimous decision. Cormier and Jones also have a history of brawling during the press conference ahead of UFC 178.

Apart from this, UFC 200 will also feature the Women’s Bantamweight fight between Amanda Nunes and Miesha Tate along with the fight for the interim featherweight championship between Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo.

The status of Nate Diaz for the event is still not clear but from what we know, the chance of Conor McGregor featuring in the card again is very low.
