Malinga's return to IPL in a limbo after Sri Lanka show reluctance to give NOC

SRI LANKAN PACER LASITH MALINGA will have to wait before he joins the IPL defending champions Mumbai Indians as petrified Sri Lankan Cricket (SLC) is reluctant to give the fast bowler a 'No Objection Certificate' to play in the ongoing Indian Premier League.

As reported by Ibn live, SLC Chief Tilanga Sumathipala said that the current status of Malinga's fitness needs to be assessed before the Board decides to give him the NOC.

"He can't go without our permission. If he defies us and go, he can only return after sitting on the bench."

Malinga and the new SLC hierarchy have been at loggerheads since the Asia Cup T20 in February. Since last November, Malinga has been trying to recover from the bone bruise in his left knee.
