Make it tough for Iran but stay fresh for Turkmenistan, Constantine tells Team India

STEPHEN CONSTANTINE wants the national team players to give their best against Iran, but at the same time remain cautious so as to retain full strength for the Turkmenistan game.

The British coach has assembled the Blue Tigers for a training camp ahead of the two World Cup-Asian Cup Joint Qualifiers fixtures that India are scheduled to play on 24th and 29th March respectively.

Constantine outlined, on the AIFF official website, what appears to be a realistic approach for the upcoming not-so-easy assignments for Team India,

"Playing Iran in Iran is as difficult as it can possibly get... they have a long history of being involved with World Cups and off course it will be David vs Goliath on the field. We will go there and try to be competitive and make it as difficult as it can be for Iran. We need to keep away from injuries as we next play Turkmenistan at Home on 29th.”

The good news, at this stage, is that the 28 players picked for the camp are not carrying any major injuries; which allows Constantine to pick the strongest possible squad for the two remaining games in the current round, after which they will go into the 3rd round of Asian Cup 2019 qualifiers; a cause Constantine has long since set his sight on.
