TFG WWE Headlines Of The Day: Austin Aries, Kurt Angle, Curb Stomp and more

The TNA Impact viewership for Kurt Angle’s farewell match, WWE editing out curb stomp out of their DVD and the addition of Austin Aries to NXT Takeover: Dallas card were the major headlines of the day. Here is a detailed look at these headlines.

TNA viewership for Kurt Angle’s farewell match

The strategy flopped

The farewell match of Kurt Angle was heavily advertised by TNA, but apparently, it failed to bring viewers to the show. The show drew 222,000 viewers which was a drop from last week’s number of 258,000 viewers. Also, the show failed to make it into the Cable Top 150 and has casted a big doubt on the future of TNA.

Austin Aries Booked for NXT Takeover: Dallas

Austin Aries, who recently made his debut in NXT, has been booked for NXT Takeover: Dallas. He will be facing Baron Corbin in the NXT Special show and the announcement was made by William Regal. Elsewhere, Shinsuke Nakamura is also advertised for the card but his opponent is not yet revealed.

WWE edits out Curb Stomp

The chances of the curb stomp returning to WWE television took yet another blow after WWE edited out the move in their new DVD, "WWE NXT Greatest Matches Volume 1". The DVD showed Seth Rollins pinning Jinder Mahal without the curb stomp in their NXT title tournament finals match. The curb stomp was reportedly banned by WWE officials last year due to the concussion lawsuits.

Other headlines

Samoa Joe has booked his place in the NXT Dallas: Takeover show by defeating Sami Zayn in a classic match at this week’s NXT Show. Joe will now face Finn Balor for the NXT Championship. Elsewhere, WWE has confirmed that WrestleMania 33 will take place in Orlando Citrus Bowl.
