TFG WWE Raw Review: Popping Like Little Children

Consistency is something that is rarely found in the wrestling business. One week, WWE could be throwing in a class act show and the next week, they could produce something that even the most casual fans would reject.

The March 7, 2016 edition of Monday Night Raw was a mix of these two extremes. The show had an explosive first hour, but as we progressed, the excitement levels went right into the hole.

Shane steered a great opening segment

There is no point in talking about what bored us, so let's focus on the first hour for the time being.

Letting Shane McMahon open Raw in a city like Chicago was simply genius from WWE. They milked the crowd pretty well during this initial segment and threw in another piece of brilliance by bringing out Vince McMahon to Undertaker's music.

Exchange between Vince and Shane was a nostalgic one and it once again hyped the WrestleMania bout between Undertaker and Shane McMahon in a positive manner. Shane getting physical was another big take away from the opening segment.
WWE's decision to let Kevin Owens and Neville follow this segment made sense.

The crowd was hot and settling them was a necessity if WWE were to give out another big angle. At start, it looked like a randomly booked affair, but once the final bell rang, the fans started realizing that there was more to it. And there was Sami Zayn.

Then, now, forever

It was one of those moments where we forgot about all the complaints and simply jumped in joy just because we were excited by the prospect of Zayn vs. Owens at WrestleMania. In Short, we all popped like little children when Zayn's music hit. These two men, who have fought all over the world, could now go on to the biggest stage of them all and do what they love.

Just the mental image of these two men between the ropes at WrestleMania was enough to make this episode of Monday Night Raw special.

WWE had some random bookings afterwards that beared no fruits whatsoever. A major movement that happened in the middle of the show was the heel turn of Chris Jericho. Jericho, with his sheer brilliance, once again proved that he is one of the best heels in the business. His turn could easily set up a showdown against AJ Styles at WrestleMania. Also, there is a possible feud between Kalisto and Ryback down the road, but then again, it's still in the initial phase and could only develop in the coming weeks.

The closing segment proved to be WWE's attempt to put over Roadblock. Ambrose managed to raise the title high by delivering dirtydeeds to Triple H and though it’s a technique that has been used over and over again, it did the work of promoting the main event of Roadblock.
