I’m very confident I’ll be right for the T20 World Cup: Watson

AUSTRALIAN ALL-ROUNDER Shane Watson’s career has always been marred with injuries. Recently, Watson suffered an abdominal strain which prevented him from playing the full leg of the inaugural Pakistan Super League (PSL).

After pulling out of the tournament, the Aussie immediately travelled back home for further assessment on his injury. As reported by The Australian newspaper, Watson said,

"It’s going to take me a couple of weeks to get back into batting and bowling. We got it before it did too much damage. I’m very confident I’ll be right for the World Cup. That’s still three or four weeks away ... It’s not like a side strain or anything like that. If everything goes to plan, I’ll be right.”

After retiring from Test cricket, the 34-year-old was ignored by the selectors for the ODI format, but his swashbuckling century in the T20I against the Indians at Sydney was enough for him to find a spot in the Australian World T20 squad.

Watson also drew the highest big of 9.5cr in the auction and will play for RCB in IPL-9. Watson further added,

"The T20 selection felt like the added bonus on top of what had happened for the previous six weeks."
