Spending time with Malinga in the nets helped me develop the yorker: Bumrah

INDIAN PACER JASPIRT BUMRAH who made a successful debut in the recently concluded series of Australia has been the talking point in Indian cricket lately. The Gujarat quickie, who operates with an awkward action, has managed to grab quite a few eyeballs for his ability to bowl some toe-crushing yorkers.

After his return from down under, skipper MS Dhoni too praised the Gujarat pacer for his impressive showing and has billed him as one for the future.

Bumrah who has been picked in the Asia Cup and World T20 squad will play in the bilateral T20 series against Sri Lanka starting tomorrow and is quite eager to do his best in front of Indian fans.

As reported by cricbuzz, Bumrah said,

“Playing in India will be a different challenge and there will be pressure on me. So the aim is to cement my place in the side by performing to my strengths. I am only going to let the ball do the talking.”

The young lad also thanked the IPL and his Mumbai Indians team-mate Lasith Malinga for helping him develop a good yorker.

“I used to bowl yorkers from an early stage with tennis balls. But it was at Mumbai Indians (MI) nets where I learnt to develop it as a lethal weapon. Lasith Malinga is a proponent of the art and was impressed with me. He taught me how and when to use yorkers. He would tell me how to vary the pace of the yorker and not to be predictable. In fact, I learnt to bowl the slow yorker from him.”
