STAN WAWRINKA,the OUE Singapore Slammers marquee player, arrived in Singapore this evening ahead of his first match in the Coca-Cola International Premier Tennis League which kicks off in Singapore tomorrow for the final three days of the 2015 season.
The current World Number four - who won the 2015 French Open - is excited to be joining the home team line-up as they have two more group matches to play and have a real chance of securing a place in Sunday's grand final at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The Swiss star said, "I have watched quite a few matches of the IPTL and it's going to be something exciting for the team with different rules, so let's see what is going to happen in the next few days.
"They [OUE Singapore Slammers] have been playing well and have won quite a few ties already. I hope I can help them to reach the final.
"It is my first time in Singapore, I know it is a crazy city, with some really nice places to see so hopefully I have some time to look around.
"My match tomorrow with Roger will be a tough one and hopefully a good show for the crowds. I am hoping I can start well and get the team off to a good start."
The entertainment begins at 4.00pm with the Japan Warriors facing the Philippine Mavericks, followed by the OUE Singapore Slammers against the OBI UAE Royals at 7.00pm.
