Rohit bats for 73 schools, expected to add more in Sporting Extavaganza

INDIAN CRICKETER AND MUMBAI INDIANS CAPTAIN Rohit Sharma, believer of the SFA (Sports For All) initiative ‘Sports & Education Week’, has already assured 73 aided schools of their participation in the 8-day Sporting Extravaganza to be held at the D.Y Patil Sports Stadium from 24th Dec to 31st Dec 2015.

The flamboyant batsman Rohit has paid the registration fees of those schools and is expected to support more such schools which cannot afford to pay to participate in the first of its kind sporting event for school kids in the Mumbai.

Committing himself to become the godfather of lesser-privileged children who yearn to excel at sports, Rohit Sharma added

‘Sports is essential for the holistic development of young kids and by SFA bringing about a revolution at the grass- roots level, the perception towards sports of an entire nation will be at the threshold of change. When Rishi told me about Sports For All, I was deeply inspired and excited at the potential of what such an institution can do for sport and sportsmen in this country. Had Sports for All been around 20 years ago, it would have opened doors for me a lot sooner. Sports For All will provide world class facilities like physiotherapists, nutritious food during competition, qualified coaches, talent scouts to students all alike. It's a great initiative and I do not want any deserving talent to be left out because of financial constraints. I am so proud to be a part of it. Now is the time to make Champions - ‘Ab jeetega India’

Guru Gobind Singh EHS & JC, Sir JJ Fort Boys High School, Bal Mohan Vidya Mandir, Mohammadi Urdu High School, KES Little Angels School, Paul's Convent High School, Young Ladies High School are some of the schools which he has already pledged support to.

Rohit’s noble gesture, gives many young kids, who may never have played in proper sporting facilities an opportunity to participate in the best possible infrastructure which they have prepared for this event. Some of these young students from aided schools would also get a chance to match their skills and talent with children from established schools.

Meanwhile, the event has so far received a Positive response with over 160 schools, with more than 4,500 children having confirmed their participation in this mega event will witness competition in nine different Olympic disciplines.

Some of the notable schools which have already registered for the event, include Jamnabai Narsee School, Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Sulochanadevi Singhania School , Utpal Sanghvi School, JBCN Schools, Ryan International Schools and Lilavati Podar Senior Secondary School to name a few.
