A new team, additional prize money, more legends, IPTL-2 on the upswing

AFTER AN OVERWHELMING response in its inaugural edition, the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) promises to get bigger and better in season two. With the introduction of Japan Warriors, clubbed with additional prize money and a host of other exciting features, IPTL-2 is all set to entertain tennis fans across the globe. 

The second edition kicks-off from 2nd to 20th December 2015. Unlike, the previous edition, the runners-up team will be rewarded with a handsome prize money of USD $500,000. Moreover, 108 corporate boxes with modern day facilities will be on sale from 12th November. 

The IPTL player draft was held early this year in Dubai and over 80 players went under the hammer, out of which 37 players were added to the franchise teams. The new entrants, Japan Warriors will play host for the first few days of the league.  

Mahesh Bhupathi, IPTL’s founder and Managing Director said, 

“The league is growing bigger with time and we are happy to announce thrilling new additions in the second league such as the introduction of a new member Japan Warriors, announcement of the prize money for the runners up team and the launch of corporate boxes in the matches. While the winning team takes away the trophy, the runners up will also have prize money to look forward to."

“Besides, we are launching corporate boxes with world class services and hospitality to offer improved and enhanced experience to the business class audience. With leading countries participating in the league we are gearing up to be a global league in the Tennis.”

Meanwhile, the Indian Aces are the defending champions and with the arrival of the great Spaniard, Rafael Nadal, chances of retaining their title has gone up significantly. Although, Roger Federer will no longer be a part of the Aces, the owners are still extremely confident about their chances. 

Gulshan Jhurani, co-owner Indian Aces said, 

“The Indian Aces gave fabulous performance in the first edition of the IPTL and bagged the trophy. We are in high spirits with stalwarts like Rafael Nadal, Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna on our side and all prepared to retain our place in the league. The team has the right mix of experienced players, approach and attitude to retain its winner’s title."

"With second set of general ticket sale opening we hope to have an enthralling response from the audience as they will witness more teams fighting at the league and the battle will grow all the more stronger for the IPTL trophy this time.”

The matches will be played with a home and away format starting from 2nd-4th in Japan, 6th-8th in Philippines, 10th-12th in India, 14th-16th in Dubai and 18th-20th in Singapore. 

The general ticket sales will start from 13th November.
