Asia Cup final could be moved to Pallekele over Colombo rains

THE ASIA CUP FINAL is reportedly moving away from Colombo due to the rain menace.

Persistent showers have interrupted matches far too often during the ongoing Asia Cup, and caused multiple matches to remain incomplete. Even the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan match in the Super Four round was forced into a reserve day and required an army of groundsmen working overtime to restore the ground to a playable condition.

To address the situation, the Asian Cricket Council is looking at Pallekele as the new venue for the finale. The city is 120 kilometers to the East of Colombo.

The ACC hopes that Pallekele will be safe from the rainy conditions that are being observed in many of the coastal cities in Sri Lanka, like Colombo.
