Asian Games: Sunil Chhetri, Sandesh Jhingan, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu included in Indian team

THE AIFF HAS ANNOUNCED the Indian men's football squad for the upcoming Asian Games.

The 22-player roster, following the rules of the competition, features U-23 player with three seniors included; namely Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Sandesh Jhingan and Sunil Chhetri.

Many Indian national team players who happen to be U-23 are also included. Anwar Ali, Aksash Mishra, Amarjit Singh Kiyam, Jeakson Singh and others who have already made their senior national team debut will be a part of the Blue Tigers' Asian Games squad.

Here's the full roster...

Goalkeepers: Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Gurmeet Singh, Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem.

Defenders: Sandesh Jhingan, Anwar Ali, Narender Gahlot, Lalchungnunga, Akash Mishra, Roshan Singh, Ashish Rai.

Midfielders: Jeakson Singh Thounaojam, Suresh Singh Wangjam, Apuia Ralte, Amarjit Singh Kiyam, Rahul KP, Naorem Mahesh Singh.

Forwards: Siva Sakthi Narayanan, Rahim Ali, Aniket Jadhav, Vikram Partap Singh, Rohit Danu, Sunil Chhetri.

For head coach Igor Stimac, the Asian Games will provide the best opportunity to test out young players before the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers and the Asian Cup.

India will share a group with China, Bangladesh and Myanmar.
