I-League: Inter Kashi announce Peter Hartley as their first player signing

INTER KASHI HAVE finally announced their first player signing; and it's a big one.

The newly born Varanasi-based club, which will make its debut in the I-League this season, has been making staff appointments so far. They signed Carlos Santamarina - who had coached the Jamshedpur FC reserves and served as the Director of Tata Football Academy - as their head coach and former Indian international Arata Izumi has come on board as the club's first assistant coach.

But today, they revealed their first player, and it's former Sunderland FC and Jamshedpur FC centre-back Peter Hartley.

The 35 year old was a part of Sunderland when they earned the promotion to the Premier League, and was a crucial part of Jamshedpur FC's back four; including the season when they won the ISL League Shield and became the Champions of India.

One of Inter Kashi's partner clubs are Atletico de Madrid, who previously had a partnership with Tata Football Academy, the de facto youth wing of Jamshedpur FC. This may explain why Inter Kashi's first head coach as well as first signed player both have a Jamshedpur FC connection in the past.
