I-League title push won't be easy, says Inter Kashi head coach

INTER KASHI HEAD COACH Carlos Santamarina has promised the club will do everything to win the I-League on their debut season, but acknowledged it would not be easy.

Inter Kashi, based in Varanasi, have been granted entry into the I-League by AIFF via coroporate bids. The club will have its first season in 2023-24, and they are planning to make a splash with its distinct identity and the backing of multiple overseas clubs like Atletico de Mardid, Inter Escaldes and FC Andorra.

In an interview shared on the club's official social media, head coach Santamaria, who was formerly the head coach of Jamshedpur FC reserves, said,

"We are a professional club... we want to win. We'll work from the first day for winning the league. But it's not easy. I'm real, I'm honest. For sure, I promise we'll work hard... but it's not easy. The supporters have to be patient."

He also talked about the academy that's being set up by the club in Varanasi, which will focus on developing players on a long term basis. Santamaria said,

"If we start working with 9 years old players, after 10 years... they will be ready... the most important part for us is the academy."

Inter Kashi aim to win the I-League and qualify for the Indian Super League via promotion.
