LUCKNOW SUPER GIANTS HAVE caused a stir, signing the Australian cricketer-turned-coach Justin Langer as their new head coach.
Langer, who represented Australia in 105 Test matches and scored 23 centuries, has been active as a head coach in high level cricket for over a decade.
He coached the Western Australia team for 6 years, along with the T20 francise Perth Scorchers. With Western Australia he won the domestic One-Day Cup twice, and led Perth Scorchers to three Big Bash League titles.
In 2018, he became the head coach of Australia, where he served for four years. Under him, the Baggie Greens would go on to win their very first T20 World Cup.
With Langer's stellar record as a coach in limited overs cricket, especially in T20, he appears to be the perfect find for LSG as they try to turn things around after an underwhelming IPL 2023.
Incidentally, Langer has been a part of the IPL before. In 2009, he played for Rajasthan Royals shortly before retiring as a player and turning to coaching.
