1. Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane is a player, who certainly deserves much more accolades in Indian cricket foreclose.  He has won Indian many difficult matches oversees and his test record speaks for itself as his performances averaged at 61.83, scoring 299 runs in 4 tests, including a century and two fifties. Ajankiya came in as a breather as the standing captain in the 2021 India-Australia border Gavaskar trophy, when the Indian team was thrown into a pool of adversities.

It was plagued with injuries, shaky due to the unavailability of their Captain Virat Kholi and still dizzy with the thud of being skittled out for an appalling score of 36 runs. After a massive fall in the 1st test, with great zeal and determination Rahane stuck it out  and made a historical hundred in the 1st innings of the second test match paving a clear path for India to go ahead and win that match and eventually level the series to one all. He turned the tables with a highly inexperienced test cricket team and induced direction and focus in the players.

For example the lead bowler in that test match Mohd Siraj was just one test old, making his test debut in that very same series, but under the captainship of Ajinkya the young bowler flourished and took 5 wickets in his 1st match.  In that series after winning the second test match team India went down to win the next two matches and eventually the series.

Ajinkya Rahane may not look his best at being flashy but his grit, skill and determination certainly deserves more appreciation. He has played 82 matches, scored 4931 runs, at an average of 38.5 and a strike rate of 49.4 so far in his Test career.
