IWL 2023: Sethu FC humble Churchill, Kajol D'Souza scores four goals
A FIRST HALF FIRESTORM from Kajol D'Souza underscored Sethu FC's IWL campaign opener as they secured a commanding 6-0 win over Churchill Brothers.
The Madurai-based club, who won the Indian Women's League in the 2018-19 season and finished just 3 points behind the champions Gokulam Kerala FC last season, equalled the Group B leaders Odisha FC at the top of the points table.
Kajol started scoring early, finding the net twice in the 9th and 11th minute. Then towards the end of the first half, she got two more goals to herself. With the victory sealed, Sethu FC head coach Joseph Naik chose to rest her for the second half.
But for the title contenders, the goals kept coming. Ivy Faith Atieno scored not long after the second half started. And around the 72 minute mark, Sunita Munda put the final stamp of dominance on the match as she got on the scoresheet as well.
Sethu FC's next match will take place on 30th April against Lords FA, who have also made a strong start with a 4-0 win in their first match. On the same day, Churchill will face off with fellow bottle table team CRPF.
