PRE-MATCH QUIPS- Soundarajan: Will allow them to attack from wings; A. Fernandes: Results are not going our way

CHENNAI CITY WON THEIR SECOND GAME of the season as they beat Mumbai FC at home. This was the team's first game under new coach V Soundarajan who replaced the sacked Robin Charles Raja.

Another home game and high on confidence after that win, Chennai City would hope to continue to score in a bid to move further away from the danger zone. Chennai coach, on the changes that he might make for the next game said,  

"We will try to win this game. I’m not going to disturb the winning combination. I thought Regin was not up to the mark in the previous game but I’m not going to drop him. Hopefully, he will perform better in this game,” 

V. Soundarajan, however, believed the goal came with an individual effort rather than a team effort. On the same he said,

"We got the goal against Mumbai only because of Charles’ individual brilliance. Hopefully, we can execute our plans better for this game,"

Soundarajan further added,

"I want to use Marcos Vinicius as a second-half substitute for tomorrow’s game. I think we have an advantage that this game has come right on the heels of an uplifting win," 

Churchill Brothers SC coach Alfred Fernandes is of the opninion that his team has been unlucky in the tournament. He added,

"After the Bengaluru game, it should have been an upward curve for us. The next game we had a good match at Shivajians. But the away games started and we were unlucky against Minerva"

Alfred believed that the performances have not got the desired results for his side and went on to say,

"Based on our performances, we don’t deserve to be here. We have been playing really good football but the results are not going our way which is puzzling. But somehow, our strikers are misfiring. Hopefully, tomorrow, we can do that."

Coach Soundarajan is not taking the bottom placed side too easy as they themselves were in the same position in the last round. He further said,

"Before the last game, we were in the bottom. So we know that they will be fired up like we were in the last game. We can’t take this game lightly. I’m expecting them to go all out tomorrow" 

The Chennai City coach tried to guess what the Goan side's tactics might be for the game and said they will prepare with that in mind. The newly appointed coach Soundarajan shared,

"I think we will allow them to attack us from the wings and have set up the team to deal with them. We want to have a numerical advantage in the box to deal with crosses."
