WATCH: Goa welcomes FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup with 'opening ceremony'
THE FIFA U-17 WOMEN'S WORLD CUP was welcomed to the state by the Goan government with a gala night of music and performances.
The event, held on Monday, acted as a de-facto "opening ceremony", with fans being treated to a slice of Goan football culture and musical traditions. Several popular singers from the state performed for a sold-out theatre full of football fans.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda will host most of the Group B matches, featuring Germany, Nigeria, Chila and New Zealand. They will also host a Group A match between USA and Morocco, apart from two quarter finals and both semi-final matches.
