ISL 2019-20 HIGHLIGHTS -- Kerala Blasters victim of referee error in NorthEast United draw

KERALA BLASTERS HEAD COACH Eelco Schattorie went all-out to beat his former team NorthEast United, but due to poor refereeing ended up with just a point in their encounter at Kochi.

The Blasters, who came in riding an 8 match winless streak, took on the Highlanders at ISL last night hoping to get themselves back on track for a top four bid. After a cagey start to the match, they got the lead through a penalty towards the end of the first half which Ogbeche converted. But shortly after the start of the second half, the referee errenously perceived Seityasen Singh's close-to-body header to be a handball and gave NEUFC a penalty. Asamoah Gyan scored from the spot and the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

The KBFC contingent and their fans were visibly upset after the match, losing out on an golden opportunity to register their second win of the campaign due to a referee error. After 10 matches, they are on just 8 points, managing to stay just above bottom placed Hyderabad FC; so being deprived of victory in this fashion is especially hurtful. NorthEast United, meanwhile, have missed an opprtunity to get close to the top four by dropping points at Kochi; they are on 11 points after 9 games, 7th on the table.
