Inspired by Pujara's ability to bat for long periods, says Kohli

INDIA SKIPPER Virat Kohli struck a brilliant 243 against Sri Lanka in the third Test at Delhi, thereby registering his second double ton of the week.

Following the second day of the Test, the BCCI twitter handle uploaded a video of a candid chat between Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara. The former divulged that big knocks were always on his mind. He also stated the entire team is learning from Pujara’s concentration levels and his ability to bat for long hours.

“We have all learnt from Pujara’s long innings, his concentration levels and his will to keep batting. So I also got inspired by that to keep batting for the team for as long as possible. Now I only think of how I can play more for the team and then you know, you don’t feel the tiredness and anything else and keep carrying on looking at the situation.”

Speaking about the big knock, the 29-year-old further added,

“Feels wonderful. It was always my mind-set to score big hundreds, something that I have watched you do a lot in your career early on and learnt also, how to concentrate for longer periods.”

Despite scoring his career best, the prolific batsman rated his knock against Australia in Adelaide as his best.

“My favourite hundred would be Adelaide second innings.”
