2017/18 ASHES : New faces who could spring in a surprise Down Under

THE 2017/18 Ashes is just a few days away and plenty has already been said and written about who will come out victorious in the five-match Test series.

Currently, England are the proud holders of the Urn and it will be interesting to see if they can continue to keep hold it. On the other hand, the Aussies will also be fancying their chances, given that they will be playing at home. Remember, the last time the English toured Down Under, they were whitewashed (5-0) against Micheal Clarke's team.

Already heading into this edition, the visitors have been dealt with a big blow. Marquee, match-winning all-rounder Ben Stokes has been suspended for this tour and there is no clarity on when the mercurial cricketer will join the touring party.

While England have got four new faces, along with first-time tourists to Australia, the hosts too have introduced some new blokes. Moreover, they have already hinted as to what their playing 11 could be for the first Test in Brisbane in a couple of days time.

On paper though, both teams look pretty even and everything points towards a gripping and intriguing series. As we near the first ball, we at TFG are also excited to present to you our take on fantasy cricket. While playing fantasy leagues for any game or series has its own thrill and importance, being a part of the Ashes fantasy cricket would be tough to beat.

We know how Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, Joe Root or James Anderson is going to perform and how important it is to pick them in your teams. However, as we have seen in the past, the big guns give you the impetus, but the dark horses often give you the edge over others.

Similarly, for this series too, both teams will have some new names joining the fray and a few might also make their debut at the Gabba on Thursday.

While we will come up with our fantasy XI and tips for the opening game, we would also love to share some info on the first timers, who could actually surprise one and all in fantasy leagues
