Kohli achieves highest-ever ODI rating by an Indian batsman; returns to No.1 spot in ICC rankings

VIRAT KOHLI achieved the highest-ever ODI rating by an Indian batsman as he returned to the top of ICC rankings for ODI batsmen within 10-days of losing the spot to South Africa skipper AB de Villiers.

Following the series win against New Zealand at home, Kohli earned 889 points, two more than the previous highest, which was achieved by Sachin Tendulkar in 1998. Early in the year, the India skipper had matched the ‘Master Blaster’s’ record.

Currently, Kohli is 17 points above de Villiers, who has 872 points to his credit. The Delhi-lad can now set his sights on trying to become just the 12th player to reach the magical 900-point barrier in ODI cricket.

India's series win against Kiwis has reduced the deficit between the first-ranked South Africa. The men in blue are 119 points.
