Any team would be happy to have the form of an all-rounder like Hardik Pandya: Kane Williamson

NEW ZEALAND skipper Kane Williamson lavished praise on Hardik Pandya and reckoned that the all-rounder plays a vital role in the Indian squad.

The Kiwis are set to play the first of the three-match ODI series, starting 22 October in Mumbai. Ahead of the series, Williamson told PTI that any team would be happy to have the form that Hardik is currently enjoying. 

“Certainly in the last year or two, he’s been playing outstandingly well. We saw it in the IPL. And even in the series against us, he bowled very well. Now, we’re seeing him come along with the bat and making contributions that any team would be pretty happy to have from their all-rounder.”

The two teams are also set to engage in a three-match T20I contest following the ODI series. Williamson further added,

“He’s a very vital player for the Indian side in terms of a fast bowling all-rounder that I suppose in these conditions, it accommodates the spinners so much, but to have a fast bowling all-rounder that bowls good pace and hits it out of the park is always exciting to have.”

Pandya had an impressive run against Australia in the 4-1 series win at home. He scored 222 runs at an average of over 55 and also pick six wickets.
