FIFA U17 WC: Mali score three past Turkey in a dominating performance

MALI ENSURED THEY GO through to the Round of 16 with a win over Turkey. The Group B encounter at DY Patil Stadium at Navi Mumbai saw both Mali taking on Turkey. Mali losing their first game to Paraguay, needed to win to stay in the hunt for the next stage.

Mali put considerable pressure for the start, missing to put the ball in the back of the net after breaking the defence on multiple occasions. The African team looked more hungry than Turkey as they pressed for every ball and won back possession quickly as well.

First breakthrough came in the 38th minute when Traore scored the opener. Both teams went into the break with the one goal difference. Second half saw a couple of substitutions from both teams and Mali seemed to be more effective with the changes. The second goal came from a tap in from N’Diaye after the ball rebounded off the post. The final goal was a long range effort by Konate who struck the ball sweetly with his left to hit the underside of the crossbar and went in.

Mali are with three points and Turkey with just a point from the two games played in Group B. Final games in the group will see Mali facing New Zealand and Turkey playing Paraguay.
