Volkan Oezdemir vs Jimi Manuwa
Following his 30-second KO win over Misha Cirkunov at UFC Fight Night: Sweden, Volkan Oezdemir with a record of 14-1 has catapulted himself to a UFC title eliminator fight against the red-hot contender in Jimi Manuwa, who is coming off a 2-fight KO win streak himself in the UFC.
This is a very interesting fight for a couple of reasons. For one, both men are tough KO artists with fight-ending power in their strikes. Secondly, it's on the undercard of the premier fight for the title and the winner more or less gets to fight the champion next.
At the media-day face-offs, the one thing that really struck me was how much bigger Jimi Manuwa is when compared to Oezdemir. The common opponent between the two men, Ovince St. Preux fought to a split decision loss against Oezdemir in his promotional debut earlier this year while he got knocked unconscious by the hard-hitting Brit last October.
I like Manuwa in this fight and with a win, it's all but confirmed that he will call out and stake his claim for a crack at the divisional crown.
