KL Rahul might miss first Test at Galle due to high fever

INDIA BATSMAN KL Rahul is likely to miss the Sri Lanka Test series opener at Galle, starting July 26, due to high fever. It is learnt that the promising opener did not travel with the team and had to stay back in Colombo.

As reported by ESPNcricinfo, a BCCI spokesperson confirmed that Rahul was kept under observation and that all the tests were negative. The official also reckoned that the Karnataka-lad is expected to join the team later on July 24.

Rahul was coming out of a shoulder injury that had kept him out of IPL-10 and Champions Trophy 2017. The 25-year-old featured in the recent two-day warm-up match in Moratuwa and also scored a quick fifty.

Previously, during an interaction with the Bcci.tv, Rahul had mentioned that he was nervous making a comeback after a long time.

"You know that you are physically fit and you have done everything that you can, worked really hard, you are feeling stronger, you are feeling fitter. But the mind always tells you what if it happens again, what if you have to go through the same grind for three months, what if your shoulder is not ready, what if you [have] come back early?"

While M Vijay has been kept on the sidelines out due to a wrist injury, the other openers in the Indian squad are Abhinav Mukund and Shikhar Dhawan.
