Rohit, Rahul return for Lanka Tests

INDIA BATSMAN Rohit Sharma has made a return to the squad for the upcoming three-match Test series against Sri Lanka.

Rohit, who was rested for the Windies tour after an injury saw him miss most of the Test season, replaced Karun Nair in the 16-man squad. The Mumbai-lad had played his last Test against the Kiwis in October, last year.

Also, KL Rahul, who had a run of six fifties in seven innings in the Australia series, is back in the squad after having recuperated from the injury that ruled him out of the IPL, the Champions Trophy and the recently-concluded West Indies series.

The BCCI’s Selection Committee has retained most of the players from the previous series against Australia in March. India is scheduled to play a two-day warm-up match in Colombo on July 21-22. The two teams will lock horns in the first Test, starting July 26 at Galle. They are also set to play a five-match ODI series and a lone T20I game.

India squad: Virat Kohli (Captain), Murali Vijay, Lokesh Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (vice captain), Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, Abhinav Mukund.
