UFC 213 Results: Whittaker crowned New Interim Middleweight champion

 

UFC faced a major blow ahead of UFC 213 when Amanda Nunes was forced to pull out of the show due to illness. The interim title between Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero was moved to the main event as a result and it delivered big time. 

Whittaker captured the title

In the fight that lasted five round, Romero seemed to be heading for a win in the first two. However, he soon struggled to maintain the energy level and Whittaker took advantage of the situation to steer towards a unanimous decision win. Michael Bisping came into the cage after the fight and threw the middleweight title down saying that he is sick to see people call Whittaker a champion.

Elsewhere, Overeem got the better of Werdum in the co-main event which turned out to be a weird fight. There was a shade of controversy regarding the decision as well. Another major talking point from the show was the return of Anthony Pettis. He defeated Jim Miller via unanimous decision and impressed in the process. Below are the complete results:
