Don't have auction every year

Don't have auction every year

Almost every year, the BCCI finds some reason and logic to hold player auction. While we hear that the 2018 auction is going to be a grand one- with all players going under the hammer, we wonder what will happen to the fan element? Over the last decade, we have seen vehement support more for players- in the process the teams also benefit. However, all that can change if the BCCI doesn't allow at least 4 players to be retianed per team. In the years gone by, Praveen Kumar, Parthiv Patel, Dinesh Karthik, Brendon McCullum etc have all played for at least four different franchises. While Robin Uthappa, Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni have still found fan following and adulation at KKR, GL & RPS respectively, one wonders if tossing a bunch of players from one team to the other regularly is a smart move. We have also seen Raina, Dhoni and Virat Kohli express their thoughts on how they would like to play only for CSK & RCB respectively. Yes, we understand some were forced changes to accomodate RPS & GL, but to keep staging the auction every year makes little sense. Imagine a Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard playing for any other franchise than Mumbai. Will MI be able to attract the same fan following at the Wankhede? Or what will happen if ABD and Kohli don't play for RCB? It's been 10 long years and the BCCI as decided much earlier can go ahead with the mega auction and we hope the governing council allows at least 4 players to retian per team.
