The most over 'Gimmick' in history of the company

In the world of make-believe, WWE has in the last decade and half, quickly become the anti-thesis of everything considered art and athletics. Believability has been the biggest thing lost, and 'storylines' have become an open secret, for the most part, causing the 'work' nature of the business to be affected, making it harder for 'characters' to hold on to their sheen.

In the midst of all of this, the gimmick of a Frankenstein-like 'zombie' had all the ones in attendance at a WWE show in rapt attention every time the ominous gong struck and the accompanying theatrics were set in motion. While full marks go to the brains behind the character, Vince Mcmahon, a larger part of the credit should go to Mark Callaway, for being able to relay the gimmick over the length of two-plus decades, even when the internet and access to information made everything easy to pooh-pooh and shrug off.

Callaway, through his meticulous attention to detail and creativity, found ways to keep the character fresh in the audience's minds and never let it become a goofy gimmick, not worthy of being taken seriously. His ability to use his personal aura around him, to enamour everyone in attendance at the event and watching at home was the main reason why everybody 'bought in' on the gimmick.
