Virat's an awesome talent and has the stage set for him like Sachin: Lara

WEST INDIES GREAT Brian Lara has heaped praise on India skipper Virat Kohli and has also drawn a comparison with iconic Sachin Tendulkar. 

The legendary batsman stated that Kohli has the time and the potential to take Indian cricket to new heights. As reported by sportal.co.nz, Lara said,

“He’s an awesome talent. He’s got a stage set for him with Sachin Tendulkar and trying to follow in his footsteps, but I think he’s held himself pretty well so far and a lot of things are expected from him, especially from the Indians.”

Kohli, who is placed first in ODI and second in Test batsmen rankings, has been in a spectacular form for a while, hitting four double hundreds since July 2016. 

The 47-year-old feels that the Delhi-lad has applied his T20 skills in all formats and that it has kept him in the forefront.

“He’s been doing well in all forms of the game, not just the T20 — in the Test matches, in the 50-over game too. I think the game has changed, it’s a lot more innovative. The batsmen are trying a lot more, especially with the T20 version of the game; it allows them to really and truly free themselves up.”
